Labor Day weekend is just around the corner. Labor day is the last hurrah before we bid summer farewell. Today, we are making suggestions for fun, family friendly Labor Day weekend activities in Chicago.
Labor Day weekend activities 2015:
You can watch a Labor Day fireworks show from the Navy Pier on September 5 at 10:15 P.M. The fireworks display reflects off of Lake Michigan. The accompanying music is coordinated with the fireworks display. The admission to the navy pier is FREE.
Some Labor Day Festivals Going on Throughout the Weekend
The Chicago Jazz festival will be going on for Labor Day weekend Chicago at the Millennium Park from September 4 through the 6th from 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
There is also a 19th Annual Chicago Summerdance at Grant Park- Spirit of Music Garden. This dance party is completely FREE. Go dance and enjoy the Reggae, Cajun, and Jitterbug music. Check out the City of Chicago website for more info.
You can also spend a nice day at the beach up until September 7 anytime between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM. Consider visiting the Oak Street Beach. After September 7, the Chicago city beaches will close for the year.
On Saturday September 5, check out the art fair the Dole. It takes place at the Dole Mansion.The art fair will be held on September 5 from 10:00 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. and September 6 from 10:00 A.M. through 4:00 P.M. Admission is FREE.
You can attend the Taste of Melrose Park event on September 4 through September 6. It begins at 5:00 PM and admission is FREE. Food will be fore sale for $3 or less. There will be a fireworks show on Sunday and lots of entertainment. There are also carnival activities for children. This event is family friendly!
To kick off Labor Day weekend a little early, you can take the family to see the movie the Caddy Shack at the Navy Pier Skyline Stage on Thursday, September 3 beginning at 7:00 PM.
