Since I live here in North Carolina, I was very excited to get to try 2 of the Dr. Oetker Ristorante Pizza varieties. We chose to test out the Spinaci and the Mozzarella. My daughter and I LOVE spinach pizzas, so I was looking forward to that one the most, and of course my kids love ANY kind of pizza, so the mozzarella was an obvious choice!
Upon removal of our pizzas from their cardboard packaging, it was quite obvious that this frozen pizza was a little different than most store bought pizzas. The toppings appeared surprisingly fresh, still loosely frozen on the pizzas. There was quite a bit of cheese, which many frozen pizzas can lack and all the ingredients & toppings were distributed evenly.
After baking the pizzas it was also obvious that the quality of the crust was much greater than other frozen pizzas – more of an artisan style. Why were we surprised when this is Italy’s #1 Frozen Pizza Brand ? Now we know why!

Needless to say, neither pizza lasted long in my household – they were devoured immediately! I’m very excited to know that I can now opt for Dr. Oetker brand at our local Harris Teeter and with a regular retail of just $5.99, actually save some money as well!
The Dr. Oetker company started in Germany in 1891 with the development of a special baking powder, Backin, that produced extraordinary baking results. More than 30 years ago, the first frozen pizza was launched on the German market. In 2003, Ristorante Pizza was introduced in Canada and has continued to maintain an overwhelming amount of success in the market place.
For my local readers, remeber that Dr. Oetker is now available in North Carolina at Harris Teeter. I hope that they will bring the Dr. Oetker Desserts and Organics line of products soon as well – they look scrumptious !!
