As technology continues to grow and change…so do the ways that we entertain ourselves. Now instead of playing games on strictly gaming devices, we can do so via our phone, music players, reading tablets and more! Recently, I received an invitation to try out a NEW game/App called Bag It! from a company called Hidden Variable Studios; and I absolutely LOVE it! Its addicting, fun, and very creative!
About Hidden Variable Studios
Back in January of 2011, throwing caution (and stable careers) to the wind, the founders of Hidden Variable Studios decided to boldly embark on the roller coaster ride of starting their own video game studio. David Marino, Amos Marvel, and Charley Price fastened their safety buckles after a collective 20+ years in game development at studios such as Electronic Arts, THQ and Insomniac Games. Currently in development on their first mobile title, the team is thrilled to be in the thick of the rapid evolution of the games industry and are looking forward to the many twists and turns that await us all in the years to come. There’s no going back now – and we’re loving every minute of it!
The creators of Hidden Variable Studios formerly worked for big, corporate companies like EA, THQ and Disney but decided they wanted to live the American Dream and start their own company, “making the games that our families and friends would love to enjoy”.
The App ~ “Bag It!”
A bit like Tetris meets Toy Story with a twist, Bag It! is grocery bagging puzzle game that opens your eyes to a whole new world inside your shopping bag. In brief, it’s a puzzle game where you try and fit grocery characters into a bag as quickly as possible, trying not to crush them. Manage fragility, weight, and size to complete the perfect bag. Sounds easy, right? Think again.
Bag It! includes a whole host of unique modes and levels to constantly provide a fresh perspective on gameplay. Single Bag, Multi-Bag, Puzzle, and Rampage modes all play very differently, and with over 50 hand crafted levels (including several varieties of Endless modes), there is tremendous amount of gameplay variety for even the most committed grocery addict.
To top it off, each grocery is its own unique character with its own unique relationships! From the snooty Sir Eggward to the happy-go-lucky Sunshine, different combinations of groceries unlock different tactical possibilities. Grouping a quartet of baguettes together not only gives you a scoring bonus, but also creates a sturdy platform out of an otherwise fragile item. From disgruntled milks to psychotic watermelons, we promise that you’ll never look at your supermarket in the same way again.
This App is now available for the following devices: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Android smartphone or tablet. PLUS, since it launched last month in November, it has been featured in the iTunes Store as the “New and Noteworthy” AND “What’s Hot” categories!
My Thoughts
As someone who loves to play NEW games/apps, I cannot express enough how incredibly FUN this game is! You could literally spend hours trying to master each level, and find all the fun ways to solve each puzzle and earn points.
For anyone who is familiar with Angry Birds ~ I could definitely see this game being the next phenomena! Everyone in your group of family and friends, will love this addicting, and unique App. They already have cute t-shirts, plush toys and more fun items in the works right now!
I would definitely recommend everyone (of all ages) to check out this FUN, family-friendly App! I love that its available for the iPhones, Droids, and other devices too! Not everyone has the same kind of phone/device and this app is a perfect fit!
