My Thoughts
Over the past two years or so, I have taken on a new hobby…researching my family history. It really is fun to discover where you came from, and what walks of life your ancestors had to go through. One of the things that I really love about doing this research is finding photos of loved ones. After contacting several family members, and collecting/scanning photos onto my computer, I know have a very good collection of photos of my parents, and of their parents when they were young. I only wish that someone in my family (before I was born) would have taken on this job.
Now what does this have to do with this company I am sharing with you today? Well, for those of who have a TON of photos and not the time to scan them, I would highly recommend PhotoBin and their scanning services. For a low price, you can send in your old filmstrips, photos, and videos – and they will scan them onto a disc for you to keep. I only wish I would have heard of this service a couple years ago!!
When it came to reviewing the photo book I received, I have to say that the company does make it very EASY to create your very own personalized book. You can upload as many photos as you want, and have several options (layouts, backgrounds, text, etc.) to choose from. There is no software to be downloaded; you simply visit their website, open a FREE account and begin!

As you can see from the picture above, all of the photos you upload can be seen (on the right hand side) and you can choose from a handful of layouts for your pictures to be displayed.
I want to be completely honest though, and share that after using several other photo book sites over the years, I really was not that impressed. The quality of the book seems very good, and the photos turned out wonderful. I just wasn’t sure I liked the choices of layouts that were available. With other sites, you have the option of moving the photos wherever you want, and sometimes having as many photos as you want per page – but with PhotoBin, you are only allowed to have up to six (6) photos per page maximum, and are limited on where you can put the text on the page as well. For someone that doesn’t have a lot of time, or maybe doesn’t like having a TON of options, then this is definitely the site for you.
Overall, I really liked the photo book that I received, but I have to say that it really wasn’t my favorite one that I have created. I would have liked to have more options in backgrounds, amount of photos, and even the choice of where I would want my text. The quality of the photo book itself is wonderful, and I look forward to seeing this company make changes to their online system in the future. When it comes to online scrap booking, I know that I am not an expert by any means, but I do know that I love choices (several hundred, in fact).
I would recommend using PhotoBin for anyone who has a limited amount of time, or looking for a way to create a personalized book without the hassle of choosing from hundreds of different options. Sometimes having less can definitely be a good thing, and in this case, I can share that this site will be stress-free and easy for anyone!
If you would like to learn more about PhotoBin, you can visit the company’s website, and/or like them on Facebook (they seem to have a very quick turn around for their fans, and you ever have any problems/questions, they are happy to help you in any way!).
