PRODUCT REVIEW + GIVEAWAY: TALKING TO TODDLERS ~ TODDLER PARENTING AUDIO COURSE

We have all heard of the “terrible twos” and how they will alter your world forever. Wouldn’t it be nice to learn how to deal with those stressful toddlers, and empower yourself as a strong, dependent parent? Well thanks to Talking to Toddlers, an audio parenting course specifically designed for the early childhood years, there is a way to gain the necessary tools to make your life easier.

About Talking to Toddlers ~ Dealing with the Terrible Twos and Beyond
This product is a digital AUDIO toddler parenting course downloaded in MP3 format.  It teaches stressed-out parents of toddlers how to effectively communicate with their kids.” The course is designed to help parents build powerful skills of influence so that your children will comply with your requests more often, and reduce the occurrence of “battles”.

What does the product do?
It gives parents the toolbox they need to fix uncooperative and other “problem” behavior, solve tantrums, and eliminate much of the stress they feel as parents.

The audio content is broken into 12 lessons, which adds up to about 2.5 hours. It is recommended that you only listen to ONE track/lesson per day. It has been professionally recorded, and is jam packed with real content, not fluff or filler.

When you purchase this product (on sale for $37 – REG $67), you will get 12 audio lessons, a course summary document (PDF) – which highlights the key points from each lesson and provides your homework, and a complete guide (PDF) – which puts the audio in writing, just in case you missed something, along with your homework assignment for each lesson.

Who is this product for?
If you have young children (ages 2 – 6), and want to learn how to communicate more effectively, this is probably a great opportunity for you. The program essentially works for children who are able to have two-way verbal communication. This toddler parenting course is perfect for dealing with the terrible twos.

My Thoughts
A couple of months ago, I had the opportunity to take a free Love and Logic parenting course (thanks to my local Parents as Teachers program)…and I have to say that some of the concepts/tools that I learned were very similar to some taught in Talking to Toddlers. Giving choices to our children (or using “double binds”), and using a “presupposition” (where you make a statement with an illicit assumption) are ones that really stood out for me. I am always trying to give my girls choices, for example: “Would you like to eat pancakes or cereal for breakfast?”.

I really enjoyed each of the lessons for several reasons…the music at the beginning/end was relaxing and made me feel that I was not only learning something that would benefit my sanity, but also helped me feel at ease. I never felt like I was being lectured to, or doing something wrong. Each lesson was short (about five minutes or less) and the homework at the end of lesson is a simple way to make sure you are doing “your part” to learn and apply what you have learned.

If you are a parent who is struggling day in and day out with your children, then I would highly suggest the use of this audio course. It is not condescending, or demeaning in anyway whatsoever…and actually gives you the power you want and need to be successful in disciplining and communicating effectively with your children. Since both my girls are old enough (ages 3 and 1.5) to have two way communication, I am very thankful for having listened/read this program.

I learned that yelling is something that I need to control, and only use on special occasions (to make a point). I know that I yell way too much, and that is probably why it is no longer effective when I am trying to get my girls attention. I also learned that sometimes having the right “tools” to challenge, and help my children makes everything go a lot smoother. I have found that when I comply with what my girls want/don’t want ~ so much more can get accomplished – whether it be bath time, dinner time, riding in the car, leaving the park, etc. I truly feel that when you show compassion, and love with your parenting styles – rather than harsh punishment and put downs, you will be a lot happier as a parent (and a person).

Parenting is supposed to be fun, and celebrated each day…not stressful and heart breaking. If you want to make a difference in the way you communicate with your children, and be more of a positive influence on them when they are young, then Talking to Toddlers would be a great investment.
