Since becoming a mom, I have learned the hard way that when traveling or even making a “quick” trip to the store, you have to be prepared. Everywhere our family goes, we always have to make sure that we the have the following: diaper bag (equipped with diapers, wipes, extra clothes, snacks, etc.), stroller, first aid kit, and last but not least, my camera. I am not an expert photographer, but you never know when you will find that perfect moment to “capture” on film.
So with all this “baggage” comes with, well you guessed it, bags! They take up too much space, and don’t allow you to have much needed free hands to hold on to your little ones. That is why I was so incredibly excited to find a new company called Camera Coats. They make absolutely gorgeous “coats” for your camera to be stored in, while you carry it around your neck, on your shoulder, or any other place you can think of!
About Camera Coats
Est. Sept. 2011, Camera Coats was designed by a mom who needed a holder/protector for her camera on their family trip. The “coat” she created protected her camera from the bumps of crowds, kids spills, sun, rain, snow, sand, and anything else that came. Hurray for camera coats! No need to carry another bag around, just throw your coat on and go!
Each series of coats is a limited edition item. Once that fabric combo is gone, its gone forever! There are several coats to choose from, including: cotton coat, rain slicky, shabby coat, the vest, 3rd world, and more to come!
The Product/My Thoughts
Camera Coats are made to fit most standard SLR’s with appox. 3″ lens. Our “standard” coat will typically fit a SLR up to approx. 6″(W)X 4.5″(H) X 3″(D). For this review, I was able to choose any product of my choosing from their website, and chose the “Shabby Fly Away with the Brown Flowers” (shown in the picture below). Please note, this design is no longer available. As I mentioned earlier, the fabrics/designs sell very fast, and once they are gone, they are gone forever.
There are so many reasons that I absolutely LOVE my Camera Coat!!!
1. The design is absolutely gorgeous, and definitely brings “style” to any outfit I wear.
2. The Camera Coat protects my Nikon D3000, from my daughters, the weather, and other elements of nature.
3. It has a handy pocket on the outside….perfect for that lense cap or smart phone! (see pic below)
4. The coat has a 2″ velcro closure for a snug fit.
5. It has a perfect buckle (with fabric loop) that easily attaches to your camera strap. This allows you to take pictures and not lose your “coat”.
