This time we’re bringing you some tried & true, oldies but goody tips and maybe even a few new Frugal Alternatives for Makeup Remover.
I have honestly never in my life every bought a makeup remover product. I see no need for the additional product – especially for the entire face. Your cleanser should work well enough to remove all product from your face. I’ve also always viewed eye makeup remover products as just something extra – an unnecessary added product, as I like to keep my facial skincare products to a minimum for the amount of time I have to spend, as well as the extra money to dish out for them.
I’ve mentioned before that I attended school at our local college to become licensed as an Esthetician. Being that I have had sensitive and problem prone skin since the age of puberty, it was a natural choice for me. I didn’t anticipate all that I would learn about skin care ingredients and the benefits of using natural and organic products, including those you have in your kitchen right now! My instructor used to say that if she couldn’t eat it, she wouldn’t dare put it on her face !
Not only are natural products better for the health and appearance of your skin, but they happen to be a very cost effective frugal alternative!
I’m listing a few of my all time fave Frugal Alternatives for makeup remover below. If you’ve never tried these, I highly recommend – not only will you save yourself some money, but you may just find you are in love with the difference they make in your skin!
COCONUT OIL:
A very small amount of coconut oil is needed to easily wipe away eye makeup. BONUS: The fatty oil also makes it a great and natural moisturizer for all wrinkle prone areas and any dry skin areas on the entire body.
OLIVE OIL:
Apply a small amount of olive oil to a cotton ball and wipe gently. BONUS: It also acts as a lightweight moisturizer to the delicate skin around eyes.
MOISTURIZER:
We all probably already have a face moisturizing product that we use daily. Dab some on a cotton ball and easily wipe away eye makeup and more. BONUS: You probably already have this product and it is, yet again, another skin-friendly product that will remove makeup without harsh ingredients to dry out your skin
BABY SHAMPOO:
Excellent to remove water-proof mascara and other makeup that is stingy though I prefer to dilute it with water. Baby shampoos do contain lower concentrations and softer detergents than other shampoos that makes them less irritating to the eye area. However, it can easily strip your skin of it’s natural moisture. This is also not the best option if you have very sensitive skin that tends to break out or become irritated with products containing fragrance.
