As a child that grew up being an Army Brat, I learned from first experience having to say goodbye to my father whenever he deployed to far off countries and dangerous places of untold hardships. Did you know that every year, 2 million kids must go through the same thing? That means that every birthday, first (and last) day of school, holidays, and countless numbers of special events are missed.
I think the hardest part was never really knowing if he would come back safe and sound. Unless you have ever met or been apart of a military family, you can never fully understand the amount of tears, stress, and prayers that are poured into their lives each waking moment. It takes more than a lot of courage and determination to be a child or spouse of a military service member – it take a real HERO.
With that said, I am so happy to share that Wholly Guacamole has teamed up with Brad Meltzer, NY Times bestselling author and creator of Ordinary People Change The World. His team created the artwork for the Wholly™ Heroes program. {His website definitely is worth checking out if you have the time!}
What is the Wholly™ Heroes program?
Wholly Guacamole would like to send 100 kids to Operation Purple camps, which is part of the National Military Family Association. These summer camps are special for military kids and the organization is a non-profit. The camp is for families of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp, Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the US Public Health Service and NOAA.
So, how you can you help?
Well, they are selling t-shirts with the logo created by Brad Meltzer and his team, now thru October 31st. The shirts cost $10, and the entire $10 amount will go towards meeting the goal of $50,000 which is equal to 5,000 shirts.
Sales are via Pay Pal and shipping is included! Both youth and adult size shirts are available! And, as an extra perk for purchasing a shirt, each order will receive a coupon for ONE (1) FREE Wholly Guacamole product (worth up to $6).
We meet everyday, average people who are Heroes. Why not celebrate a special group of people, the children of the soldiers who honorably serve our country every day?
To purchase your T-shirt, you may do so via Wholly Guacamole’s website, or on their Facebook page. To learn more about this program, read the Official Press Release here. And for those of you with a hero in your life, check out this fun link where you can personalize your very own Hero Video!
