In May 2009, three fresh-faced teenagers, Piero Barone (17), Ignazio Boschetto (16), and Gianluca Ginoble (16), appeared on the popular Italian talent show “Ti Lascio Una Canzone” and dazzled television viewers with their flawless rendition of the Neapolitan standard “O Sole Mio.” The boys, who won the competition easily, decided their group needed a name. “Il Volo,” meaning “flight,” was chosen to signify the feeling that these three young tenors were about to spread their wings and fly.
I was thoroughly impressed with this group of boys…their music is NOT another rendition of a boy band, and is actually very soothing and relaxing to listen to. All three young men have gorgeous voices that are mesmerizing and ones that I would pay money to see in concert. The group reminded me of a combination of Enrique, Michael Buble and Henry Connick Jr. Sigh…
Il Volo just came of their successful “We Are Love” tour as special guests on the Barbra Streisand Tour and also completed a series of US dates that followed appearances on American Idol, Good Morning America, The Today Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Ellen, The Talk, Rachel Ray and the final episode of the HBO hit “Entourage”.
Il Volo’s second album “We Are Love” is being released on November 19th on Interscope Records. The album includes Il Volo’s soaring version of the Aerosmith/ Diane Warren hit “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” (“Questo Amore”) along with a new Warren song “I Bring You To My Senses”.
Your heart will melt and your ears will not want to stop listening to this wonderful CD. I would highly recommend it to any music lover out there!
