HOW TO EAT ORGANIC ON A FRUGAL BUDGET

We all want to feed our families well with the freshest and best organic fruits and vegetables. But they are pricey. If you are on a budget, you may think that eating this way is just not affordable. But that isn’t the case. Eating Organic is cheaper than you think! Join us as we explore How to Eat Organic on a Frugal Budget.

Below are some tips to help you break into your organic journey and begin saving big today:

  • Did you know that organic frozen produce may sometimes actually be cheaper than fresh? So, head on over to the frozen aisle for some organic frozen vegetables and fruit. Stock up when your supermarket runs sales. Frozen produce is far more healthy than canned produce. So, keep that in mind as well.
  • Always try to buy local produce when it’s in season (organic or otherwise). You can then freeze the produce and keep them for the winter months when they aren’t in season. Plus, by purchasing local produce, you support local farms and small businesses.
  • When you cook organic soups and stews this winter, make sure you double the recipe and freeze the rest to eat on another day.
  • Sign up for email newsletters from places like Whole Foods or Earth’s Fare. You will receive coupons and special promotions directly to your mailbox. Just for signing up for the Whole Foods email newsletter, you will be registered for a free $50 gift card to the store.
  • Like on Facebook or follow on Twitter you favorite organic companies and grocery stores to keep an eye on upcoming specials or coupons. From time to time you may get a printable coupon on Facebook.
  • Don’t buy pre-washed or ready to eat fruits and vegetables. They sometimes cost twice as much.
  • Eat out only a couple times a week. Even though eating organic is expensive, it is even more expensive to eat out! What’s more, those premium meals at restaurants probably aren’t even organic.
  • Stock up! Take full advantage of sales on organic products and stock up.
  • Always buy organic packaged staples on sale and stock up.
