I know that some of you may be asking, “What the heck is a quiche?” Pronounced ‘keesh,’ it’s basically an egg pie. It doesn’t sound too appealing does it? I thought the same thing the first time my wife made it. But I’m always game for eating new things so I gave it a try. Oh man, what a treat! It is now a staple at holiday dinners and friendly get togethers. And when cooking on a budget, this Quiche Lorraine Recipe is a great option to get a filling meal for a relatively low cost. The base ingredients are eggs, creamer, and dough. You can’t get any cheaper than that!
Now I must clarify; this Quiche Lorraine Recipe is not an egg pie. It is an open faced pastry crust filled with custard and can be served hot or cold. What you put into the custard mixture is what makes the quiche so interesting and gives you a plethora of recipes to toy around with. Cheese, meat, seafood, vegetables; a quiche can be whatever you want! And because it can be served hot or cold it can be a dish for any season.
This recipe is for the popular variant Quiche Lorraine. To save time buy a store bought pastry pie crust. But if you can I always recommend making your own.

Again, this is a traditional Quiche Lorraine Recipe. Be sure to try different variations based on your own preferences. Substitute a vegetable or seafood for the bacon and choose a different cheese that you prefer. The options are endless! You can still use the same cooking instructions listed above. And depending on your choice of ingredients quiche is ideal if you’re cooking on a budget. Have fun cooking!
