As a frugal wife and mommy of two, I am always trying to find ways to save our family money. With only one income, and more money going out, than there is coming in (at times) budgeting is definitely a very important thing to do! After timeless hours have been spent on our budget, one thing remains constant – our cell phone bill is very HIGH!! How many of you have this problem?
To “save us money” we got rid of our home phone, and switched to cell phones only. But now with our current provider (I won’t mention here), we are being charged for every nook and cranny when it comes to making a simple phone call, text message or using that basic Internet service – which in the long run is NOT saving us anything.
I cannot express enough…make sure you RESEARCH when you are going to buy a cell phone!! Sometimes you have to sign contracts that last for more than 2 years per phone, and then you have to pay extra fees that can be for anything like texts, using your phone before a certain time, and/or checking your email! I now know, that we picked the wrong choice. Which is why I am writing this post! I don’t want you to make the same mistake I did and be stuck having to pay “cancellation fees” or having to wait until next Winter paying way too much for phone service.

My Review
For this post, I was provided with a BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone (in Titanium). The phone itself is lightweight (4 oz), has an enhanced web browser, full QWERTY keypad & trackball navigation (almost like a mouse on a computer), 2MP Camera w/Flash (5x Zoom & Video), and several other features including:
- Access to BlackBerry Apps, Games & More
- Unlimited Email/Internet access
- Media Player w/Standard Audio Jack (it also came with head set)
- 1 GB microSD Card included
- Stereo Bluetooth Capable
- Multi-Media, Text & Instant Messaging
- GPS Enabled
The phone also came with a travel charger w/clips, a phone case (swivel holster), rechargeable battery, documentation kit w/CD and USB cord (as well as the items listed above – the headset and micro SD card).
I have to say that I would gladly turn in my current smart phone for this one ~ especially if it would mean saving over $100/month! It is absolutely crazy how much money is “thrown out the window” when it comes to cell phone providers. But with Boost Mobile – you are truly getting what you pay for! For a low price, you can have an amazing phone with all the features you want – when you want!
I would highly recommend looking into Boost Mobile!! See if its available where you live and “do the numbers” to figure out how much you can save when you switch to prepaid! Let me tell you, if I could switch, I would defintely do it right now! Not only would it save us money – but my family could talk, text, email and use the web ~ as much as we wanted to (without paying extra)! WOW!!!
