PRODUCT REVIEW: INKY TRAIL NEWS

I remember at a very young age, I always enjoyed writing. I think it all started when my father (who is in the military) would write me almost every day from wherever he was stationed. It was very hard being away from him for so long, but our letters allowed us to keep in touch – and always gave us something to look forward to. I still have many of those letters today 🙂

In a way, my dad was my first penpal…do you remember ever having a penpal? Or maybe one of your children has one today? Becoming or being a penpal is an incredible fun thing to start – even it means writing your grandma each month. All this talk about penpals, leads me up to the product I reviewed this week called Inky Trail News.

What IS Inky Trail News?
Inky Trail News is a 20 page newsletter full of friendship and fun. We print oodles of pen pal ads like other pen pal newsletters, but we also print pen pal articles.

Inky Trail News is a magazine-sized snail mail newsletter published since 1992. Inky Trail News is dedicated to friendship via letter writing for women of all ages (and a few men too!)

We publish pals memories and articles, written by pals for pals, on penpalling and oodles of topics — AND we print the pals address, postal and/or email, with the article.

I like to think of Inky Trail News as one big newsletter round robin, full of letters and stories, sharing life and caring about one another, from a variety of folks worldwide.

Whether you enjoy postal mail, email, round robins, or tape/voice pen pals, I think you’ll find lotsa friendship here!

My Thoughts
I truly had no idea that there were so many programs, and groups of people who participate in being a penpalling. And with over 20,000 fans on Facebook, I am sure that one of you (our amazing Frugal Fabulous Finds readers) may be a penpal to someone out there in the world. I would love to hear about your experiences – so please feel free to comment below!

The newsletter itself was very inviting, friendly and left you feeling that you were reading a series of short stories about real people from all over the world. I felt very connected and loved knowing that there are so many writers and lovers of life. There needs to be more advertisement for such a great program (hence why I am sure they want bloggers to promote as I am doing now)! I couldn’t believe that Inky Trail News had been around since 1992! Wow!

I know that I am very intrigued by such an idea of penpalling – one program that really stuck out for me was the Magic Birthday Club, where you have a secret pen pal sending a monthly inexpensive gift by mail 😀 I would love that! Who doesn’t love getting a personalized gift or letter? I wonder if they something like this for children…hmmm…something I will have to investigate!
