Cooking On A Budget Affordable Thanksgiving Stuffing

Thanksgiving is less than a week away! If you have not already planned out your menu and purchased your turkey not is the time to do so. Today, we are bringing you a delicious, simple, and affordable stuffing recipe that is a perfection addition to your Thanksgiving feast. The ingredients are inexpensive and probably already in your pantry and refrigerator. This particular stuffing recipe is fairly basic, but you could always add additional ingredients to spice it up or add new flavors. Either way, you cannot go wrong with this basic Thanksgiving stuffing recipe.

Affordable Thanksgiving Stuffing Ingredients:

Thanksgiving Stuffing

Source: Wikipedia

  • 1 (1 pound) loaf of sliced white bread
  • 3/4 cup of margarine or butter
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 4 stalks of celery chopped into small pieces
  • 2 teaspoons of poultry seasoning
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • salt and pepper to taste

Affordable Thanksgiving Stuffing Directions:

Allow the bread to sit out for a day or so (or a few hours if you are pressed for time). Once the bread has become a bit stale, cut it into small cubes. In a large pan, melt the butter or margarine on medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the chopped onion and chopped celery. Cook these ingredients until they soften. Next, add the poultry seasoning, as well as the salt and pepper to taste. Then, add in the bread cubes and gently stir until they are evenly coated with the mixture. Pour the chicken broth over the mixture until the bread cubes have softened up. You can either bake this stuffing in a pan by itself for approximately 30 to 40 minutes in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven, or you can use this stuffing to stuff the inside of your turkey! If you choose the latter, be sure to cook your turkey for a sufficient amount of time. You do not want the stuffing to be undercooked and full of bacteria from the inner cavity of the turkey.
