About the Author
Charles Richards, Ph.D., is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, author, and licensed psychotherapist in private practice in San Diego, California. For more than 10 years, he trained and coached senior executives of Fortune 100 corporations in management and leadership skills at the Center for Creative Leadership, La Jolla. His clients at CCL have included General Motors, IBM, Motorola, QUALCOMM, Sony, Apple, Whirlpool, Honda, SAP, and other well-known companies. Dr. Richards is also an internationally known speaker and presenter.
My Thoughts
Growing up I always had a very good “handle” on managing my money. Each time I earned or was given money, I would save it. Maybe it was for a rainy day, or maybe it was for a trip to Mexico someday…and yes, I took the rather. Instead of saving my money for something important like a car, an apartment or maybe even my wedding…I spent it on an all-inclusive resort to Mexico with my now-husband.
What I find so funny is that at the time, I truly felt that I possessed the “Psychology of Wealth” attributes, including: self esteem, responsibility, determination and achievement. I had it all – and then, well I blew it!
In this book, you won’t find a financial plan or savings tips. Instead, you get a close up look at how we think and act in our pursuit of wealth. Dr. Richard’s style of writing is educating without being condescending. It is written in a way that anyone can understand, and the best part about his advice is that it can apply to anyone with a willingness to take an honest look at themselves, not just those that have financial training.
I really enjoyed the steps he recommended in the book – because they are ones that can be mastered at any point in life. It is never too late to do better, and to make better goals for yourself along the way.
