My Thoughts:
I absolutely loved this book! It was funny, witty and an extremely emotional read. Karen Linaman is genuinely very honest and reflective as she shares hers and other’s tough experiences throughout their lives.
The author discusses real life situations in her life that other women have dealt with or are dealing with: broken relationships, how to get over your ex, financial stress, dating, difficult teens, roadblocks in life, and the many inventive ways she compares the hurdles we all overcome. The chapter titles are unique and give the reader pause for thought.
I think everyone has had some type of hurdle to overcome in life – whether it be losing a job, going through divorce, or just dealing with the everyday stress…and this book truly made me feel like I am not the only one.
At the end of each chapter the author includes a short summary titled, ‘Food for Thought,’ where she summarizes the salient points in that section plus asks the reader to reflect on several questions and try to answer them. This book would be perfect for a Women’s Bible Study or Book Club. For those who love chocolate, the author also provides many great recipes to keep one’s sweet tooth happy (like mine!). Life is almost like a recipe with many different ingredients that you mix in order to have a better life.
The author does give credit to God who can wipe away our tears when chocolate alone won’t do the trick. She reminds the reader that power, wisdom, and help can be found in Scripture. I am not a religious person by any means, but the underlining message of having faith and a little bit of chocolate, truly makes me smile! 🙂
This book has something for everyone, especially the chocolate recipes. After all, chocolate to some people makes everything seem so much better and less bitter. To learn more about how to work out your life in a more positive way you need to read this book for yourself. A quick, and easy read that offers tips and stories on how to get through your rocky road of life that you may be traveling.
I would highly recommend this book to women (ages 17 and up). If you would like to purchase this book, you can do so at Amazon.com.
