My Review
As a young stay at home mom of two, retirement planning hasn’t really crossed my mind – at least not for another thirty or forty years. But as the economy plays out each day, the stock market goes up and down, and our own bank account seems to get slimmer by the minute…I can’t help but wonder if retirement is something that we could ever do.

When I read The New Three-Legged Stool by Rick Rodgers, I was very surprised to find how many hardworking, and financially stable families were actually penalized for NOT following the many rules of the IRA. Some having to pay more than half of what they had “put away” for retirement.

What’s really nice about Rodger’s book is that he will show you how to balance between the three ”legs,” or components, you will need to create the most tax-effective financial structure:

  • Leg One, Tax-Deferred Savings Strategies
  • Leg Two, After-Tax Savings Strategies
  • Leg Three, Tax-Free Savings Strategies

Plus, you learn about the all-important Retirement Distribution (R/D) Factor, which includes Social Security and Estate planning. At the end of the day, it’s what you and your family get to keep that counts. I can only hope that after reading this book, and educating my family about to establish a good retirement plan, that we will be ready when that day comes. Have you started thinking about retirement yet?
