About the Books
In Try! A Survival Guide to Unemployment, the first of Karen Okulicz’s books, there are several chapters that focus on helping you keep a positive peace of mind. Being unemployed is not a fun situation to be in, and in the book there are techniques with “a down to earth” work search approach that is motivational and inspirational. In Decide! How to make any Decision, the second book written by Karen Okulicz, teaches the reader exactly as the title states – how to make a decision. Whether you are trying to figure out what you want to do for a job, or maybe as a hobby – this book helps you figure out the best way to make a decision. A great motivational book to give you that extra push at deciding on anything!
In Karen’s third book, Attitude! For your best lived Life, readers can feel refreshed after receiving a little encouragement to see the good side of any situation. Having a positive attitude really does go a long way, and it will help you have a happier and more successful life.
Each book captures the best successful personal responses to job loss, decision making, and keeping a positive attitude. My Review
As someone who has been out of work for almost four years, these books definitely came to me at the right time in my life. It has become very discouraging that over the past four years, after countless hours looking for a job in the education field, going to numerous interviews and sending out at least a hundred resumes – nothing.
I do love being a stay at home mom, and a part time blogger – but I would also love to pursue my career in education. Whether that means being a teacher, a daycare provider or someone who works in the Ed. Technology department at a local college – this is my dream. I have always dreamed of being involved in education and helping others the best way that I can. There is just something about teaching, and learning, and encouraging others to do their best that gives me so much pride.
“Try!” and “Decide” are utilized resources by State and Federal Agencies in One Stops and Rapid Response, College Career Centers, Outplacement firms, Job Corps and in Military Rifs and Spouse programs. “Try!” is usually placed in orientation packets during layoffs. “Decide!” is also finding it’s way into Youth programs and High Schools.
I would highly recommend reading the books written by Karen Okulicz – for any person who may need a little motivation. These books will encourage you NOT to give up, to believe in yourself, to decide what the best option is for you and how to keep the best attitude about yourself and your life. They are not only books for people “looking for work”, but for anyone who would like to know they are not alone.
