Tomorrow, July 1, is Canada Day. If you are not familiar with Canada Day, we will share some brief history with you. We also have some great Canada Day freebies you can enjoy if you live in Canada or will be in Canada on July 1. Canada Day is one of the Canadian holidays. It is an annual federal holiday that celebrates the unification of 3 colonies into one country: Canada. This occurred on July 1, 1867. Canada Day is sometimes referred to as Canada’s birthday. It is common for outdoor events and celebrations to be held in communities throughout Canada on this day.

On Canada Day, all national parks, national historic locations, and national marine conservation areas are offering FREE admission! Many of these parks and historic locations are also going to have free activities, music, food, games, guided tours, and other freebies. If you are going to be in Ottawa, catch the grand fireworks display during the evening on Canada’s Parliament Hill. During the day there will be a variety of shows, ceremonial demonstrations, and other free events. If you click here, you can view a list of all the activities going on at Parliament Hill. Don’t forget to wear your red and white!
Another option in Ottawa is Jacques Cartier Park. This Canada Day celebration is geared specifically for families with children. Activities include face painting, bounce houses, games, and so forth. For a complete list of activities, go to this website.
If you’re going to be in Montreal, check out all the fun activities going on there. They are offering activities for kids and adults. Just a few activities include dancing, music, and craft making. The admission is free, so don’t miss out!
Going to be in Vancouver? Take part in their Canada Day celebrations at Canada Place. Watch the Canada Day parade, dancing, and musical performers. The fireworks display cap off a great celebration. For a full list of activities, go to this website.
If you will be in Toronto for Canada day, check out this list of fun events for the day. The celebration begins at 5:00 PM. Admission is free, and there will be many family friendly activities. Other holiday freebies include face painting, an open air big top circus, music, and fireworks.
