Grilling hacks
Grilling hack # 1 Place an ice cube inside a hamburger patty to keep it moist while grilling. The trick is to put the ice cub in your hamburger patty just before you grill it. If you put the ice cub in too soon, your meat will get all wet. When you put the ice cube in just before grilling, the outside of the burger will get crisp but the inside will stay nice and moist. Mmm mmm delicious.
Grilling hack # 2 Did you know that you can use your thumb to determine how your steak is cooked? That’s right, you can tell if you steak is well done, medium or rare just by using your hand. The spot just under the base your thumb bone on your palm should feel squishy and soft when relaxed. This is what raw steak should feel like. If you touch your thumb and pointer finger at the tips, that same spot under the base of your thumb bone should feel slightly tougher. This is what rare steak feels like. Touching your thumb to middle finger should feel like medium rare, and touching your thumb to your ring finger should feel like medium steak. Finally, touching your thumb to your pinky should feel like well done steak.
Grilling hack # 3 You can clean your grill with a ball of aluminum foil or a half of an onion. If you use the onion technique, the next food you food will have a faint onion flavor.
Grilling hack # 4 Worried about running out of propane and don’t have a scale nearby? Just pour hot water on the side of your propane tank. The empty park of the propane tank will feel warm, and the full part of the propane tank will feel cold.
Grilling hack # 5 If you use a charcoal grill, you can place certain herbs over your hot charcoal briquettes. Basil, rosemary, sage, and bay are all great options. You can also use fresh garlic of or fennel. Other options include various woods such as oak, hickory, apple, or maple.
Grilling hack # 6 Isn’t it annoying when you try to grill a delicious salmon fillet and a large amount sticks to your grill? The solution to this problem is to create a base of lemon slices under your salmon. That’s right, just lay slices of lemon directly on your grill and lay the salmon on top of the lemon. The salmon will take on a bit of the lemon flavor and it won’t stick. That means you won’t waste any of that delicious salmon.
