There are times when all you need is a can of paint to spruce something up. This is definately not an extensive DIY desk makeover project and really requires ZERO skill 😀 Also, if you had the idea that I am running this blog from some wonderfully beautiful and organized home office, I apologize for bursting your bubble !
I found this beat up and wobbly, not even a once nice wooden or expensive desk at my local flea market. It’s just a standard particle board generic desk with hutch. My former desk did not have a hutch and I was on the hunt for one. With a $10 price tag, I thought I could quickly make it usable and not too painful to look at.
Cost:
Flea Market Desk: $10
Can of Black Paint on the “Mis-tint” cart at my local Lowes: $2.50
Time involved: 1 day
All I did was have my hubby put a couple slats to secure the wobbling and painted it . I’m still hunting for some unique drawer pulls or knobs and will pick them up fairly cheap as well.
I would like do a quick wallpaper or decorative contact paper on hutch cabinet interiors at some point. But at the moment, this was a super quick & cheap makeover based on functionality.
I’ll update with new pics when I spruce it up a bit more – for now, I’m just enjoying having a hutch in my new-to-me $10 desk 😀
