FACEBOOK CHANGES: TIMELINE FOR PAGES – HOW TO FIX + NEVER MISS A POST AGAIN

They say the only constant in our world is change…I don’t like change when there is no obvious need for it, but I’m learning when it comes to technology and the internet, I had better learn to go with the flow. And so, here we are, making an unwanted adjustment to the new Facebook Timeline for Pages.

Yes, I know…you don’t like it. Neither do I. ALL Facebook pages will automatically be converted to the new Timeline format on March 30th. That’s why we went ahead and took the plunge now, so we could learn to navigate things before it was the only option!

Over the last 48 hours since I made our switch to Timeline, I have noticed some features that I actually like (such as the ability for all of our readers and fans to email us directly from the facebook page), the option to “highlight” and “pin” specific posts to make sure you see them easily (like the “of the moment” deals and other frugal fabulous finds that you wouldn’t want to miss). There are some features I don’t like – namely, the inability to set our page to the most recent posts so that they are all in order. I have figured out a few tricks though and I hope that they will be helpful to you.

We love interacting with all of you on Facebook and don’t want to lose that, so we’re here to help if you have any questions about the Facebook changes and the new Timeline format.

I’m sure we will update this post later, as we get used to the new Timeline, but I wanted to share some quick tips to help ensure that you don’t miss our posts!

How to KEEP TRACK OF POSTS in TIMELINE

#1. First, ALWAYS make sure your page view is set to “POSTS BY PAGE” instead of “Highlights”. This will ensure that you are seeing posts in order and especially – the most recent posts instead of the new default which is a random collection of posts from other fans and posts from the past year.

#2. We post 25+ deals a day EASILY, and even after your click on POSTS BY PAGE, you will still need to scroll down and click on SEE MORE RECENT STORIES. This is after the first batch of posts. You may also need to click on this more than once to see ALL the posts for the day!

How to KEEP US IN YOUR NEWS FEED!

With all the changes to Facebook recently things are coming and going like crazy in everybody’s news feed. The fact is that Facebook will be changing everyone and everything over to timeline so we’re all going to have to get used to it (even if we’re not crazy about it). Below are the steps to make sure you don’t miss the next “of the moment” deal, freebie, or coupon!

  • Go to your ‘HOME’ page.
  • On the left hand side you will see the word ‘LISTS’.
  • Hover your mouse over that area and you will see the word ‘MORE’ click it.
  • This will bring you to a page with all of the ‘LISTS’ Facebook has created for you.
  • In the upper right hand corner you will see ‘+ Create List’ click it.
  • This will bring up a box that asks you to create a name for your list. Once you’ve named your list a new box will appear so that you can add to your lists.
  • Click the word ‘FRIENDS’ in the box and it will bring up PAGES. You can now go through and add whatever pages you would like to your list.
  • When you’re done and go back to your Home page you’ll see your new list show up on the left side of your wall. When you click it will give you a News Feed of what is on your list.

    1. It’s on fan pages – like ours – every fan page has it (?) That way you can view the posts in order. It’s the only way we’ve found so far with Timeline to keep the page from showing it’s own random collection of posts .

Thanks Wendy, but my timeline does not have that button.
      🙁

    3. Hi Linda, I put the “arrow / finger pointing” symbol on the image where you go to change the page option to Posts by Page instead of “highlights”,etc. It is directly under the new big header image/logo on any page – you should see it just like in the picture.
