
Fourth of July weekend is here…I hope you all have an amazing & safe holiday with your friends and family! We made a last minute decision, and our family is going Colorado this weekend! Our first family vacation ever!! EEK! I couldn’t sleep the past two nights because I was so worried/excited/nervous/happy…the list goes on. For those of you who are staying closer to home this weekend, check out all the FREE events going on this weekend 🙂
There are TONS of free kids activities this weekend:
- Fireworks!!! I know this varies all over the place, but this weekend will have tons of FREE displays for you and your family to enjoy this holiday weekend depending on where you live 🙂 We have sooo many to choose from every year where we live!
- Michaels: on Saturday (7/2) from 11 am – 2 pm, they are having a Make-It-Take-It Event. Warrior Sheild Bead Flag Pin & Face Painting for ages 3 and up.
- Home Depot: on Saturday (7/2) from 9 am to noon, visit your local Home Depot to build a Coaster Set. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates’ aprons, and an achievement pin.
- Lakeshore Learning Store: on Saturday (7/2), from 11 am – 3 pm, visit Lakeshore Learning Center to create a free Patriotic Wreath.
- AC Moore: visit Wednesday (7/6) between 3 and 5 pm for a Free Kids Make & Takes – Nicolecrafts Foam Visors.
- Archiver’s: visit Archiver’s on Friday or Saturday nights from 5-11 pm for six undisturbed hours of scrapbooking and socializing. Just pay a $5 reservation fee to save your spot. Then when you arrive, you’ll receive a $5 merchandise voucher to use that night.
- Lego Store: visit your local LEGO store on 7/5 from 5 pm until supplies last for a free mini model build. This month your child aged 6 to 14 can build a free LEGO Lighthouse.
- Bass Pro: visit Bass Pro on Saturday (6/4- 7/10) for Family Summer Camp 2011. Enjoy FREE crafts on Saturdays and Sundays between 2 pm and 5 pm. This Saturday, you can Design Your Own Birdhouse. Other activities include: workshops and activities on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 pm.
- Bank of America: Museums on Us: This weekend (7/2-7/3/11), each Bank of America cardholder gets free admission to over 100 museums nationwide.
- Pottery Barn: Join this Summers Reading Challenge now through August 24. Keep your kids reading by either going to a PBK scheduled Story Time or read at home. Just download their reading list and when you complete it, visit your nearest PBK store to pick up your free book.
- Target: Check for FREE museum events in a city near you
- Walmart: there are several in-store events this weekend, including free samples of Nestle Lil’ Drums on 7/2 from 5-9 pm at participating stores. Check your local store for hours and participation

If you live in the Kansas City area (where I live) there are several Firework displays and festivals going on this weekend:
- Parkville 4th of July Festival June 30-July 3, English Landing Park. Carnival, Parade, and Fireworks at 9:45pm on Monday in celebration of the 4th of July! 816.505.2227 www.parkvillemo.org/independenceday.html
- KC Riverfest July 1-3, Berkley Riverfront Park. Since 2005, KCRiverFest has been recognized as Kansas City’s premier Independence Day Festival on the Missouri River.
