French Toast Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches
French Toast Peanut Butter and Jelly Ingredients:
2/3 cup of 2% reduced fat milk (or whatever kind of milk you prefer)- 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon of salt
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- 8 (one ounce) slices of whole-wheat bread
- 1/2 cup of strawberry jelly
- 6 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter (or chunky if you prefer)
- 1 tablespoon of canola oil
- 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar
French Toast Peanut Butter and Jelly Directions:
In a shallow dish, combine the milk, baking powder, vanilla extract, salt, and egg. Stir it together with a whisk. Then, put 2 tablespoons of strawberry jelly on each of the 4 slices of bread. Put 1 1/2 tablespoons of peanut butter on each of the other 4 slices of bread. Assemble the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Next, dip 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the milk mixture. Flip the sandwiches to coat both sides. Over medium-high heat, warm up a large skillet. Be sure to add 1 1/2 teaspoons of canola oil to the skillet to prevent sticking. Coat it evenly. Place your coated peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the skillet and cook for approximately 2 minutes on each side. Once the sandwiches are evenly toasted, remove them from the pan. Continue the same process with the remaining sandwiches. When all the sandwiches have finished cooking, sprinkle powdered sugar over the top of them. Cut each sandwich and enjoy! Or, you can pack them up for a delicious lunch.
