Did you know that their are many frugal fabulous uses for vinegar beyond just cooking? Vinegar can keep you healthy and help you clean your home. I love it when typical household products perform multiple duties like vinegar or baking soda. If you didn’t know all of these frugal uses for vinegar, I wanted to share a few of them with you to help you around the home.
White Vinegar as a Cleaner:
- Easily clean blinds with equal parts white vinegar and warm water. Apply the mixture using cotton gloves or even a wash cloth.
- If you simmer paint brushes in a pot of white vinegar, you can easily remove dried paint using this technique.
- Why not clean pennies with white vinegar? Soak them overnight to restore them to their former glory.
- Is your coffee pot stained from making coffee? Fill the maker with 1 cup of vinegar, and run it through a brewing cycle. After the vinegar brews, run clean water through the maker one or two times.
- Just like with pennies, you can clean brass or copper with white vinegar. Mix the vinegar with equal parts salt and give it a good scrub.
- Clean your microwave with a bowl of vinegar and water, 1/2 cup each. You’ll want to microwave the mixture until it boils. Once the mixture boils you can easily remove any dried on food.
- Run vinegar and baking soda through your garbage disposal to give it a nice fresh scent. Poor the mixture into the disposal and let sit for about five minutes, then run through with hot water.
Apple cider vinegar has some great healing properties, as well. Stock up on a big bottle and keep in the kitchen for a few uses. You can mix apple cider vinegar with honey and heat in the microwave. Many homeopathic authorities say this mixture is the cure for many of your common ailments. It’s said that the mixture is good for arthritis and joint pain along with helping cure a sore throat.
Trust me. When I first considered drinking this concoction, I thought I had lost my mind! Who drinks vinegar, really? But it’s not bad once it is heated. I use about 3 big tablespoons of honey and about 3 to 4 oz. of apple cider vinegar. The mixture also will aid in digestion over a period of time.
