Cooking on a Budget: Free Recipe for Grape Tomato Pasta

What’s even better is that it costs roughly $5 to make for your family. Easily add some grilled chicken on the side and whole wheat pasta for a healthy meal or lunch during the week. The blogger also says that this yummy dish can be served hot or cold, so it’s versatile, as well as good. The dish from start to finish takes about 35 minutes to pull together from start to finish. This dish is really versatile. Any protein of your choice could be added along with other vegetables or even a little Parmesan or feta cheese for a little more flavor. Keep in mind if you wish to serve this dish cold, you may have to add a little more olive oil to freshen up the dish before serving.


  • 1 box of pasta, cooked
  • Grape tomatoes (cherry would work, too)
  • Olive oil, enough to coat tomatoes
  • Basil, about 10 leaves chopped
  • Oregano, leaves from two stems chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

To start, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, bring a large pot of water to a boil to cook your pasta per the directions from the pasta.  While it’s cooking prepare the tomatoes for the oven. Slice the tomatoes into halves. Place these halves into your large mixing bowl.  Add the olive oil, basil, oregano, salt and pepper and stir to combine ingredients. Pour the mixture out onto a baking sheet in a single layer (or as close to it as you can get) and roast in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until the tomatoes start to shrivel and the juices come out of them. Then drain the pasta, plate it and serve with the tomatoes on top.  Garnish with a basil leaf to make it look pretty.
