I think most of us would have to admit we love sliders. At least, I do. But why not put a twist on traditional burger sliders. Instead, make these delicious Ham and Swiss Sliders I ran across on the TasteTheJoy blog.
The recipe combines ham, swiss and other great spices (such as Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds and mustard) together for a budget friendly, easy meal that everyone in the family will love! The entire dish is then topped with butter, you really can’t get much tastier than that!
The blogger from TasteTheJoy said her sandwiches came out great! You could easily serve these with a pasta salad and fruit for a complete meal. This easy recipe will also serve well at a potluck of any kind. Your kids will probably love them too.
Ham and Swiss Sliders:
INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon dried minced onions
2 teaspoon prepared mustard
a splash or two of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tablespoon poppy seeds
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 dozen dinner rolls or 2 dozen party rolls- (pictured are the King’s Hawaiian rolls found by the deli meat and cheese at your local grocery store)
Mayonnaise
Sliced ham
Sliced Swiss cheese (go for the real Swiss for the best flavor)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat your oven to 350°. In a small bowl combine onion, mustard, Worcestershire, poppy seeds and butter. Leaving the dinner rolls intact, slice them so you have one solid top and bottom. Place the bottom half of the rolls on a baking sheet. Then spread rolls (top and bottom) with mayonnaise.
Line the bottom half of the rolls with the ham and cheese. Return the top part of the dinner rolls and brush the butter evenly over top. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until warmed through. Separate your sliders with a sharp knife and serve warm.
If you would like to make the Ham and Swiss Sliders ahead of time, go ahead! They freeze well and just have to be heated in the oven.
