Like many Americans, I struggle with debt…credit card debt, buying a car, paying off a mortgage, monthly bills…the list goes on. What I am not proud to admit, is that for the first time in about five years, I realize that I am just digging myself a deeper hole to find a way out of.
Until today, I never put a date on how long it would take me to have financial freedom once again. After inputting all the numbers, crunching the interest rates, and figuring out the minimum payments for everything, I learned that my “Debt-Free Date” is supposed to be October 2016 (courtesy of Dave Ramsey’s Debt Snowball). Now, 4 years may seem like a long time…but I am glad to have set that goal. And my next step, is making sure that it won’t take me all that time to reach it.
Its tough living paycheck to paycheck. Not knowing how we will pay for groceries each week, let alone – pay for the coupons, to help us save! But, all I can do is make a plan (budget) and stick to it to reach my goals. And to help me stick to that plan, I have decided that I would like to start a mini-series here for all of you to follow, share, and support one another, as we work on eliminating our debt TOGETHER that we carry each day.
I look forward to answering any questions, and helping you learn along my own path on how to eliminate debt. Look for my next post: “How to Eliminate Debt : Goodbye Credit Cards!” soon!
