There are always new and interesting ways to save money at home. Today, I wanted to share some of those tips with you! I pulled together some great ideas so you can start saving money immediately! Let’s learn how to save money by shopping.
Shop at bakery outlets for big savings: Most cities have these outlets. Depending on where you live, you may have one close to you. If you have a local company that bakes bread like Merita or Entenmann’s you will be in luck. The bread is just fine. It could be day old bread but it is still tasty. So, no worries there!
- Shop at dollar stores for greeting cards: Greeting cards are very expensive these days. Prices can easily top $5 at a big box store or grocery store. But if you head over to the dollar store, you can pick up cards for $1 per box or even two boxes for $1. Those are some incredible big savings!
- Do you have a little hair styling skill? Give your children or even your husband haircuts. This will help you save big throughout the year. I still cut my son’s hair and have never spent money at the barber shop. It looks great!
- Don’t buy magazine subscriptions or books! Go to the library. It’s a great way to expose youngsters to books and learning. A trip to the library also gets the family out of the house to experience something new. Many local libraries have great programs and workshops that are free/nearly free for its members. For example, our local library held book readings at a local park once a week this summer. You can’t beat that!
- How about during the weekend you scan your local paper or Craigslist to find local garage/estate sales in your area? This can be a great way to find indoor/outdoor furniture, lawn equipment (such as mowers or hoses), and even clothes. I am more selective on clothing myself. But, you could easily find coats and jackets for kids along with interesting outdoor furniture. A fresh coat of paint would look amazing along with your new patio set!
