The IRS began processing eFile returns on the 17th ( 1/17), as I mentioned in our Tax Series HERE along with my tips to help you KEEP more of your money in 2012.
You can get an early estimate of just how much you either owe or are owed back on your federal tax return by using H+R Block online for FREE (State returns are an additional fee) or Turbotax Online for FREE
Even if you don’t plan to file or efile right away, online software (no download required) is a great tool to get an idea of where you stand with your tax return this year and whether you should hurry to file / efile or not .
If you don’t have your W’2’s yet, you may be able to use your very last paycheck from 2011 to transfer your Gross Income and Tax payments deducted for the year into the efile system, if they are broken down for you.
Using FREE online software and efile for your return is very simple and the software will even find deductions you never thought about. If you need to stop and finish later, it will save your spot and pickup where you left off when you’re ready.
