As a parent, you can’t help but wonder what kind of person your child will become as they grow up. Will they be strong? Will they be a leader? Will they be a teacher or a race car driver? All we do as their care giver is provide them with the love, comfort and guidance over the years and just hope for the best. This past month, I came across an incredible book that any parent should read called “Little Blessings” edited by Lynn C. Johnston.
Here is what the publisher had to say about this book,
“As anyone who has ever loved a child knows, children are an amazing gift. They enter into the world knowing nothing about life, but yet somehow manage to teach us the true meaning of it. Through their eyes, we are able to see the world with a renewed perspective where love is unconditional, imagination and curiosity are limitless, and resilience from adversity seems endless.
No matter their age, our children are both our greatest and littlest blessings. In this anthology, you’ll read about the joy and wonderment they bring into our lives, and the enduring lessons they teach us when we least expect it.”
In this book, you will find a compilation of short stories, poems, memories and a little something to make you tear up and enjoy the little things as parents. Too many times we get frustrated by the drawings on the wall, stains on the carpet, or bad words expressed by our little ones…and this book, makes you step back and take a deep breath. I was encouraged to see the positive, rather than the negative and focus on what truly makes parenting the job it is meant to be.
I just loved the poetry, and stories that I could relate to on so many different levels…as a mom, a daughter, a friend, and more. In case you didn’t already know, Whispering Angel Books (the publisher of this book) donates a portion of all its book sales to charities promoting physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Such an amazing company, and an incredible group of people to work with!
