Mother’s Day will be here before we know it! Do you have a gift for mom or the special mother-figure in your life? If not, you still have plenty of time to find the perfect gift for her. If you are on a tight budget, you still have plenty of low-cost gift options for your mom. Today, we are telling you how to make homemade bath fizzies for mom. This recipe is relatively inexpensive, but a nice gift for a mom who deserves to relax and have some downtime.
Homemade bath fizzies for mom
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1/2 cup of citric acid
- 1/2 cup of Epsom salts
- 1/2 cup of cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons of Essential Oil (choose whatever scent you like best!)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons of Safflower Oil or any other light oil (**You can omit this ingredient if you’d like. The oil can make you bathtub a bit slippery)
- 3 drops of food coloring (whatever color you prefer)
- 1 teaspoon of water
Supplies:
- Bowl
- Whisk
- Mini spray bottle
- A mold (such as a plastic ornament that snaps together or an Easter egg)
Directions:
Mix the dry ingredients together in one bowl. Break up any lumps. In the spray bottle, mix together the liquid ingredients. You may want to slightly adjust these ingredients. If you want darker bath fizzies, add a few more drops of food coloring. If you want your bath fizzies to be extra fragrant, add in a few more drops of essential oil. Once the liquid ingredients have been combined in the spray bottle, begin spraying it into the dry mixture. Be sure to whisk quickly as you combine the ingredients. You may hear some fizzing as you combine the ingredients. Continue to spray the wet ingredients as you stir them in with the whisk. Be careful not to get the dry ingredients too wet! If you do, they will react to the liquid ingredients and the fizzies will not work properly. You want the combined mixture to become clumpy when you squeeze it in your hand, but not too crumbly or too wet. Then, pack the mixture into your mold or shape. If you are using a sphere shaped mold, attach both sides after you have packed the mixture in the mold. You can add sprinkles, glitter, dried flowers, and other additives to your mold. Tap it gently and then unmold your fizzie. Allow the bath fizzies to dry for approximately 24 hours on a paper towel or a hand towel. Once they have thoroughly dried, you can package them with small treat bags, cupcake wrappers, small boxes, and more. This makes a great gift for mom!
Tip: Choose a sweet scent that mom will love. We recommend rose, vanilla, orange, or other essential oils. You can also check out craft stores for their soap fragrances. You will likely have more scent choices than you would if you only used essential oils.
