Plant an indoor herb garden

Plant an indoor herb garden

If you are a foodie and a frugal and fabulous follower, trying to save money on just about everything, why not plant an indoor herb garden this winter. The indoor herb garden will brighten up your kitchen and your meals! It’s very simple to get started with your garden but keep in mind there are some types of herbs that are better than others to grow indoors.

Try these herbs to grow indoors, from

  1. Basil can be grow indoors easily and likes lots of sun
  2. Bay grows year round and needs plenty of space for nice growth
  3. Chives
  4. Oregano
  5. Parsley likes full sun
  6. Rosemary likes moist soil
  7. Sage needs lots of sun
  8. Cilantro
  9. Dill

Make sure you have a nice window and sunlight for your herbs. Since it is winter you may have some trouble locating these plants at big box stores but you can find them at your local grocery store in the floral department, as well, year round. Your kitchen or other sunny window area will need to stay between 55 and 75 degrees for optimum growth. Also, make sure to buy the proper pots for your herbs, they need to have proper drainage and enough space for healthy growth. Keep  the plants indoors all year round or transfer them outside once it is warm.

My favorite herb listed above is rosemary, it is so versatile and grows fast! Good luck!
