When I am not busy playing with my girls, finding great deals or doing product reviews & giveaways…my down time is spent reading! I absolutely love to read…anything from non-fiction, parenting books, comedy, fantasy and more! Well, my husband surprised me at Christmas with a Nook Color (an eReader from Barnes & Noble)! And let me tell you, it is the best gift I have ever received (next to my digital camera, of course!).
With over 2 million book titles, newspapers, and magazines to choose from – I know you will find something you love to read! And one of my favorite features about my NookColor are the children’s books (aka Nook Kids). They have beautifully illustrated books, some with animation and sounds that can read full length stories to your child. My daughters and I love to cuddle up and read Dr. Seuss books. Plus they take turns “turning the pages” of the book.
Here are some of the features that Nook Color has:
- Color Touchscreen (so you can read during the day/night)
- Built-in Wi-Fi (use it anywhere there is Wi-Fi…the library, McDonalds, book stores, etc.)
- Share & Recommend Feature (where you can share what book/magazine you are reading)
- Custom design your home page, apps, organization, etc
- Just for you Feature (where B&N recommends what books you would like to read based on what you own already)
- NEW! Apps for your Nook Color! This feature just came out a few months ago! You can play games, check your email and more!
What I really like is that Barnes and Noble offers several FREE e-books on their site, or you can download the software on your computer to adapt almost any free eReading books onto your NookColor. Currently, I have over 300 books on my Nook, and about 95% of them were FREE!

Now, don’t get me wrong…I LOVE my NookColor! But OH! How I wish I would have been able to snag one at the price of $199.99. I would have saved almost $50 if I would have waited!
You can go to Buy.com, and purchase a re-furbished NookColor for $50 less than what I paid ($249.00), PLUS get FREE Shipping!
My husband and I compared the Nook to the other eReaders out there, and loved this one the best. Not only does it store thousands of books, but its also kid friendly, you can read anytime of the day/night, and its great for on the go just about anywhere!
