PRODUCT REVIEW+GIVEAWAY: ELFING AROUND

September is here, which means Fall is near…and after Fall comes Winter…which means colder weather for some of you, building a snow man, and last but not least,  preparing for the holidays. How many of you have family holiday traditions? Traditions in my family have changed over the years, but I still love that some things never change. In my family we hide a special pickle ornament in the tree that the children must find…and my mom always makes trays full of yummy cookies/chocolates for each family to take home…and many more…

Christmas is something that is so much more exciting now that I am a parent! My girls may not fully understand the true meaning of Christmas, or how Santa Claus visits them when they are good. At ages 2.5 and 1 year old, I am not sure what my daughters’ really understand when it comes to celebrating the holidays – but I do know that this year, they will be getting a very special surprise visit from Gingersnap, a plush Elf from the North Pole.

Who is Gingersnap, you ask? Well, she is an Elf who is (on vacation from the North Pole) sent to live with us for 12 days before Christmas. She will help us count down, have exciting adventures and will encourage your little ones to be on their best behavior until Santa Claus arrives.

The Experience
Before the adventures begin with Elfing Around, we want your child to anticipate his or her Elf’s visit.  We have included a “Letter Regarding Your Elf” in an “official” envelope.  This letter lets your child know his or her special Elf friend will be arriving soon.  Please address the letter and make it noticeable to your child a couple of days before you want your Elf to arrive.

The first morning your child meets his or her Elf friend, place the Elf and the (temporary) tattoos in a spot your child will find.  Remind your child about the Elf  letter suggesting your writing the child’s name on the bottom of their Elf friend’s foot. (This helps avoid confusion if there is more than one elf friend visiting a family.)  After your child meets his or her Elf friend the first morning, the 12 nightly adventures begin.

The Parent Adventure Guide Book includes 12 nightly suggested Elf Adventures (with completed Elf Postcards) that you can set up in 5 minutes or less while your child is asleep.  Also included are several blank postcards in case you’d like to create your own unique adventures.

When your child awakes the next morning, he or she will experience a “magical scene”!  The left sides of the pages in the Parent Adventure Guide Book explain suggested instructions for you to create your nightly Elf Adventure.  The right sides of the pages in the Parent Adventure Guide Book are the Elf Postcards from your Elf friend to your child.  The right sides of the pages will need to be cut out along the designated black lines.  Refer to the inside cover page of the Parent Adventure Guide Book for more detailed instructions.

On December 24th, your child’s Elf friend should be placed where Santa can find him or her.  Santa will return your vacationing elf friend to Lapland, North Pole.  You will need to hide your Elf until your next holiday vacation.  Please see our other holiday vacation opportunities and free printables!

My Review
What an incredibly unique idea this is!!! I know that my daughters are absolutely going to love reading and seeing all the adventures their Elf doll will have each night…one idea was to write the word “BELIEVE” on the mirror, or another was to decorate the tree with your child’s clothing (ie: underwear, socks, etc.). I think my favorite adventure, from the Parent Adventure Guide, was the guided treasure hunt. Using 10 clues, your child must solve short riddles to find their Elf 😀

Everything that you need to prepare, minus a few cotton balls 🙂 is included in your Elfing Around package for $29.99. A letter to your child before they arrive, and when they leave (with envelopes), 12 post cards (for each day/night they stay), a wish list for your child to fill out for Santa Claus, and more!

Something else that I have to share that was so much fun…naming your elf and assigning their job. There were over 20 names to choose from…starting with Angel thru Twinkle. Although I do not recall seeing her name on any of the paper work that I received in my package. And for her job assignment, you can choose from over 14 different options, including Art, creating dress up clothes or tea sets. Very cute!

I have to share that I was very excited about sharing “Gingersnap” with our girls, so I gave a sneak peak to them today…and my oldest loves her so much already!
