With gas prices rising at a steady pace it’s important to know the best gas stations to frequent to save money on gas this summer. Of course, many grocery stores have deals you can take advantage of to save pennies. At Kroger stores just by using your Kroger card you can save .03 cents a gallon, that’s not counting the money you can save on by shopping in the store.
Gas prices are expected rise throughout the summer, along with grocery items and other services, in a recent report from NBCNews.com.
Compared year over year, ground beef is up 16.5 percent, bacon has risen 16.4 percent and eggs have spiked 10.5 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Oranges have soared 28.5 percent, grapes 24.8 percent and even wine is up 5.8 percent. Of the 75 price points the BLS follows, 52 have risen over the past 12 months.
AAA added that for the first time this year, over the Memorial Day weekend, residents of three states paid over $4 a gallon for gas.
“On Sunday, for the first time in 2014, consumers in three states paid $4 dollars or more per gallon: Hawaii, California and Alaska. As of today, drivers in Missouri are paying the least per gallon ($3.38), which is a difference of 99 cents from nation’s most expensive market (Hawaii: $4.37). The price at the pump in 44 states and the District of Columbia has remained relatively stable over the past seven days.”
So, now you may be asking how to save on this precious commodity that you have to use every day.
The best day of the week, Time.com says, is Wednesday mornings between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Of course, depending on the state of the country, world events and even regionally, Wednesday may not always be the cheapest day of the week, but it’s a great place to start.
I have read that when you purchase gas in the morning that it is more dense, which gives you more bang for your buck, as well.
