So, during the month of September, grab your scissors, a Sunday circular and begin your coupon clipping. National Coupon Month is great. It inspires consumers to clip coupons and save money as we quickly approach the holidays.
According to research from the Promotion Marketing Association’s (PMA) Coupon Council, many consumers take National Coupon Month seriously and save big bucks. The association says that approximately $2.6 billion is saved by consumers using manufacturer’s coupons when shopping, so if you aren’t clipping coupons you really are missing out on some money savings deals. Another interesting statistic from the organization says that over $350 billion dollars in coupons are offered annually for packaged goods; that’s isn’t counting the thousands of coupons for other products!
To begin saving big make sure you are always picking up the Sunday paper which is full of coupon circulars but, of course, today you clip coupons online to make things easier from places like Coupons.com, Walmart.com, and many other sites. Even your local grocery stores now participate in the couponing month by letting customers clip coupons online and adding to store cards. That technique is probably one of my favorite ways to save on groceries. Your coupons will automatically be loaded onto your store card. You can then just swipe the loyalty card at checkout for tons of savings. I love the Kroger loyalty program. Not only do you save on groceries, but you also add up rewards for discounts on fuel.
