Summertime is here and your ocean playground awaits: Great weather, kid-friendly activities, and the biggest sand box you’ve ever seen, that’s Virginia Beach.
Let your imagination run wild on the shores of possibilities as you visit attractions like the Virginia Aquarium and First Landing State Park and a mix of coastal experiences like performances and festivals presented by Beach Street USA and the nation’s first handicap-accessible playground, Grommet Island Park. There’s always plenty to do and see in Virginia Beach, sand castles to be built, and a whole coast of excitement waiting to be explored!
Whether you prefer to fly a kite, skate a ramp or relax with a picnic at one of the popular parks, there’s something for everyone at Virginia Beach!
With that said, here are my TOP 10 Reasons why you would want to visit Virginia Beach:
1. Virginia Beach is so much more family friendly – you don’t have all the partying crowds hanging out and up all hours of the night on the strip.
2. It’s much less crowded – unlike Myrtle Beach.
3. They have the boardwalk style break between the hotels and the ocean and BIKES that you can rent for the entire family – I would LOVE to do this – it is so much fun, and you get great exercise in the ocean breeze!
4. I would love to check out the Virginia Aquarium with my girls 🙂
5. Something else that would be fun for the kids…Ocean Breeze waterpark, that has a new Hooks Lagoon. Get ready for some fun!
5. And for the moms – Shopping! Including boutiques, shopping centers, and antique stores you’re sure to find a unique treasure somewhere!
6. And don’t forget about eating out! Vacations are all about trying new things. You will love the coastal cuisine that Virginia Beach offers. From fresh tuna to sun-dried tomato and more, try (and enjoy) all they have to offer.
7. For Dad – Golf! With over 198 holes of golf available, you could spend the whole vacay on the course. What’s better than warm temperatures, and sunny skies on the greens?
8. For the fishermen: Virginia Beach has a very diverse range of fish and fishing destinations.
9. All throughout the summer, families can have a great adventure in a completely interactive mystery along the ocean. This event is totally FREE and even ends with a family friendly movie on a giant bubble screen. July 14, August 4 and 18, and September 9.
10. And of course, THE BEACH ! Over 35 miles of beautiful beaches wait for you to enjoy. Sunbathe, read a book, swim, enjoy water sports and more.
Virginia Beach entices visitors to “Live the Life” year-round! Located in the southeastern corner of the state, Virginia Beach is four hours southeast of D.C. by car and within a day’s drive or less from two-thirds of the U.S. population.
