Walnut Maple Apple Crisp Dessert

Walnut Maple Apple Crisp Ingredients:

1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup of light brown sugar (packed)
1/3 cup of regular oats
1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 cup of cold butter or a stick of margarine, cut into small pieces (butter should be cold but not completely hard)
3 tablespoons of chopped walnuts
7 cups of sliced and peeled Rome apple (approximately 3 pounds)
1/4 cup of maple syrup (Ideally, you should use real maple syrup. If you can’t, you can substitute it for artificial)
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Walnut Maple Apple Crisp Directions:

Begin by preheating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, regular oats, and the 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Use two forks or a pastry blender to add the butter. Cut it in until it turns the mixture into small crumbs. Add in your chopped walnuts and stir everything together. In another bowl, put your sliced Rome apples, maple syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon together. Stir everything. Then, put your apple mixture into an 8 X 8 glass baking pan. Cover the apples evenly with the oat crumb mixture. Put the apple crisp into the oven for approximately 45 minutes or until the crumbs begin to turn a light golden brown color. Once the apple crisp has finished cooking, remove it from the oven and serve immediately or wait until it cools slightly. You can serve this with ice cream (vanilla ice cream pairs very well with this tasty treat!)
