How many of you enjoy visiting local art shows or art museums? This month, I came across a really neat website called Stone Sculpture Kingdom. This company is an established exporter of Shona stone sculpture, a sculpture genre pronounced by Newsweek magazine to be the most important art from Africa this century.

Shona stone sculpture has landed itself in the homes of various international figureheads such as Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles I, Sir Richard Attenborough, The Rockefellers, Jimmy Stewart and has been housed in numerous famous museums worldwide. So, you can imagine that these beautiful art pieces are pricey!
Our website provides a platform for our visitors to learn more about Shona sculpture as well as offer their opinion on displayed pieces, participate in contests and/or buy displayed pieces as well as get a custom sculpture carved. The pic (shown above) was my favorite one!
My Review:
The website itself is very user-friendly. Everything was neatly labeled, and put into a category. They provide a variety of different sculptures and organize them by type, such as: Abstract, Animal, Contemporary, Garden, Miniature, Shona and Wildlife. Or you can even create your own custom made sculpture, when you provide a sketch of what you want. I am all about organization, so this was nice to see.
As far as a dislike, I wished that each of their products had the price shown on the display for how much each item was. Instead you have to click on the individual item, and then it shows you at the bottom of the page (after you scroll down) how much something costs. The costs are way too high out of my budget (over $300 each or more), but maybe if you save up or get a coupon of some kind it may be worth it to you or someone you know.
I will end on a positive note…I love how the artists are all from Zimbabwe! You know that when you purchase a sculpture with this company that you are truly getting what you pay for, and getting an authentic African art piece for your family to enjoy.
You can learn more about Stone Sculpture by visiting their website, liking them on Facebook, or following them on Twitter.
